Traveling to Alcalá de Henares with children

Stork by Andrea Granero, 2 years old

Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, it´s a very nice city to be visited with children. Of course, it´s necessary to make it interesting going to different places than usually and speaking about the subjects that they like more.

Believe me, it´s really easy to catch their attention in this fabulous city. Knights, kings, bishops, killings, old theatre performances, and also love stories. Sounds good?.

When I explain the city to families, I use as central argument the novel by Quevedo -who lived in Alcalá de Henares-, History of the life of the Swindler, called Don Pablos. This book was wrote on the 17th C, but it´s very actual in deep.

From February, there are many storks flying on the sky or on the towers of the churches. As example, I include in this post one drawing of my daughter, done after a walk in Alcalá.
